Christabel Kambala, PhD

Research Fellow and Associate Professor


Research Fellow and Associate Professor at Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), department of Environmental Health. Christabel holds a PhD in Environmental Health from University of Heidelberg, Germany. She has been a co-PI in impact evaluation studies such as; Evaluation of Performance Based Financing Intervention on maternal and new born care services (2012 to 2016) and Evaluation of Malawi’s One Community Intervention in improving the wellbeing and risk of HIV acquisition in vulnerable populations (2016 to 2018). She is currently a co-PI in a study that is measuring gender-based discrimination to better understand maternal mortality in Malawi. She is also a co-PI in a formative research to gain an informed understanding of barriers impeding access and use of sexual and reproductive health /family planning services(2019 to 2024). As a researcher, Christabel has a strong interest in conducting research using mixed methods approach and has published both quantitative and qualitative work in peer reviewed journals.
