Kingsley Lungu, MPhil
Senior Lecturer & Environmental Health Expert
Kingsley Lungu is a seasoned academic and public and environmental health expertr who joined the Centre for Water, Sanitation, Health and Technology Development (WASHTED) in 2015. With an academic career spanning over two decades, he has been a Senior Lecturer in Public Health Engineering and Environmental Health since 2004. Kingsley holds an MPhil in Environmental Health from University of Strathclyde, UK (2010), BSc. in Environmental Health – University of Malawi (1999) and Advanced Regional Diploma in Public Health Engineering – University of Mauritius (1990)
Kingsley has a proven track record in managing large-scale international research collaborations. Between 2016 and 2020, he served as the Malawi Coordinator for the Horizon 2020 Waterspout project, overseen by a consortium of 16 partners across Europe and Africa focused on innovative solar water disinfection technologies. Beyond academia, Kingsley contributes his expertise to national regulatory and health bodies:
- Waste Management Expert: Member of the Advisory Committee on Environmental and Social Assessments (ACESA) for the Malawi Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) since 2021.
- Public Health Advisor: Member of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (MAITAG) since 2018.
