Taonga Mwapasa Kumwenda is a public health and environmental research professional focusing on sustainability, environmental pollution, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance, and the One Health approach, as well as the links between poverty and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in low- and middle-income settings. Based in Malawi, she combines academic rigour with field experience at the intersection of environmental health, behaviour change, and stakeholder engagement.

An early-career researcher with a Master’s degree in Environmental Health, Taonga is building a strong track record in applied research. Her work has contributed to peer-reviewed publications and has been presented at international and national forums. She has experience collaborating with international development partners and engaging diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, NGOs, communities, and local institutions.

Taonga brings strong communication, project coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills. She is committed to advancing sustainable, evidence-based solutions that improve public health outcomes, with a focus on scalable interventions and policy-relevant research in Malawi and beyond.
