This year’s Global HandWashing Day will be celebrated across 2 days in Malawi. The 17th October will see a knowledge exchange symposium for practitioners hosted by WASHTED at the Malawi Polytechnic, and this will be followed by a public commemoration on the 18th October in Chikwawa District.
The symposium will be hosted from 8.30am – 5pm and will have a programme focussed on the theme Clean Hands – A Recipe for Success! (Manja aukhondo: Chiyambi cha tsogolo lopambana!). Presentations from research and operations professionals will focus on household and institutional hand washing practice at critical times and behaviour change. This will be supported by a panel discussion on promoting hand washing with soap to be aired on MBC.
