Research findings are only valuable when shared and acted upon, as their true impact lies in being disseminated to drive progress! That’s why WASHTED, along with other collaborators of the NIHR-GHRG on Adolescent Health & Wellbeing in Malawi, is in Mchinji this week to share findings from the recently concluded formative studies with various stakeholders.

We are engaging with community-level stakeholders, including adolescents, teachers, Health Surveillance Assistants (HSAs), parents, chiefs, and district-level stakeholders, including representatives from departments of education, health, water and sanitation, the police, and NGOs. Through meetings held at various Teacher Development Centres (TDCs) and discussions with the Youth Technical Working Group of Mchinji District, we shared our research findings, gathered invaluable feedback, and answered further questions from respondents.

The dynamic and insightful discussions allow participants to appreciate the findings, which enlightens and prepares them to take actions they can manage with their available resources while seeking support from other stakeholders. This marks an important step towards making a real difference in the lives of adolescents in Malawi through the power of research.
